Hi there. I’m Joyanne and I’m so glad you’ve stopped by. I am an Edmonton-based teacher who sings (thanks to Austin Kleon for the inspiration on that one). I have also worked as an actor, director, choir director, and voice coach in Edmonton, Dublin, and Ottawa. I studied Drama at the University of Alberta and graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Drama. I also hold Performers and Teachers diplomas in Speech Arts and Drama from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Before I transitioned to studying speech and theatre my life was focused on dance and music, and I spent countless hours at ballet/tap/jazz/Ukrainian dance, practising piano, and performing with whichever choir I was part of at the time. You could say I’ve always been busy and I’ve always been immersed in the arts. It’s no wonder I’ve made my profession in that field.
These days I find ways to marry all my loves of art, whether that’s performing with the Edmonton Opera Chorus, teaching musical theatre at The Foote Theatre School at The Citadel Theatre, or co-directing a liturgical children’s choir in Vegreville. I am also in the midst of completing an after-degree in Secondary Education at the University of Alberta, so life is definitely full.
If you’re looking for someone who can guide you through learning more about your voice and build up your confidence in performance or presentation, you’ve come to the right place! I am passionate about people and their ability to be the best version of themselves, whether they’re looking to be a musical/spoken artist or just want to have the confidence to stand in front of their colleagues and deliver that epic presentation. Interviews, auditions, one-off projects: I can help you with that; I've definitely been through my share of those! For a full list of classes and disciplines, click here. To check out some of my past projects, check out the Media page. For cantoring services and any other questions, go to the Contact page and get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you. All the best and stay classy!
